1. Don’t we cleanse naturally?
Yes, of course we do. Our bodies cleanse, detoxify and heal imbalances all day long. It’s our human design. But our modern lifestyles overload these built-in corrective processes. Restaurant dining, take-out food, late-night meals and drinks stress our natural cleansing systems. Add to that our consumption of caffeine and medications in an environment filled with dirty air, impure water and invisible chemicals, and it is clear we’re making more demands of our bodies’ detoxification and healing systems than they can handle. They may get by day-to-day, but they don’t flourish. Over time, toxins build up in the body and the results can be small imbalances like aches, allergies, poor digestion and weight gain, or even an ongoing sense of fatigue.

Q. How often should I do a cleanse?
A. A good rule of thumb is whenever you experience any of the following: fatigue/general lack of energy, sleeplessness, anxiety/depression, digestive problems, at the first sign of a cold and of course, before and after holidays or any special events that lead to overindulging. We recommend doing a cleanse once a month for at least three days. This allows your body the proper rest and recovery time it needs to maintain optimum health. Make it a healthy habit - the immune system loves a consistent schedule.

Q: I’m nervous about cleansing. Will I feel deprived, sick or light-headed?

A: We feel you! Trying new things can cause lots of anxiety. Thoughts of perceived failure can be overwhelming. Just remember, you have nothing to prove! Just think – each droplet of organic, fresh, raw, fruits, vegetables and nuts contributes to your health. Even if you only do one day, or even half a day, it’s a great start! You’re giving your body the best gift possible: creating a new nutritious and loving way of being with food. Most importantly- you are not alone! Q: Do you recommend a 3 or 5 day cleanse?

A: This is a very personal decision. If you have never cleansed before, you may want to start with a 3 day cleanse and work your way up. That being said, if you already live a nearly raw, vegan lifestyle or have cleansed before, 5 days is 60% more cleansing time, and you will release that many more toxins. The 5 day cleanse allows your body to rebuild from a clean slate using nutrient dense building blocks. You will be on your way to fighting off disease and boosting your immunity.

Q: Is it organic?

A: We are selecting the best quality products on the market. Whenever possible, we source locally from small family farms who independently practice pesticide and herbicide- free farming.

Q: How much weight will I lose? Will I gain it back?

A: Remember, this is a nutritional cleanse designed to give your digestive system a rest and therefore allow your body to focus on eliminating toxins. Many people do lose weight, but you should consider it just a bonus side effect. If you’re already slim and eating well you may not lose much weight.


Q. Why is juice so expensive?

A. Not all juices are created the same! The average MJC drink takes more than 1 kilogram of fruits and vegetables to make. Many of these vegetables are expensive given their nutritional value. Organic produce for everything that we make. Finally, the process of cold pressing requires more involvement. It would be much easier to throw a bunch of vegetables into a fast spinning industrial juicer, however that would leave you with unnecessary pulp and much less vital nutrition.

Q: Why has my juice separated?

A: Because it’s natural! Don’t have separation anxiety, just give it a shake. Most store bought drinks don’t separate because they have stabilisers added in. We prefer to shake our juice rather than drink chemicals!

Q: Can I do this if I am pregnant, elderly?

A: Unfortunately not. Our juices are unpasteurized to maintain all of their live enzymes and phytonutrients. However, this makes them unsuitable for children, pregnant women and the elderly.

Q: Can I cleanse while taking antibiotics?

A: If you’re on medication, you should check with your doctor before beginning any juice cleanse.

Q: Can I do Max Juices Cleanse if I am lactose or gluten intolerant?

A: YES! There are absolutely NO animal or dairy products in our juice and they are 100% gluten-free and 100% vegan.

Q: I’m very allergic to nuts – do you have a replacement?

A: Yes! We do cater to cashew allergies. You receive an additional green juice instead. But please be aware that it is all made in the same kitchen.

Q. Can my kids drink MJC?

A. Of course! We’ve designed the taste profiles so that kids love the juices too. Keep in mind children should not be doing cleanse-only programs.

Q. How should I store my juice?

A. In your fridge. Hint: You should take your juice out of the box before you put it in the fridge. If you have to leave it in the box, make sure you remove the top so that cold air can get inside. Remember to toss the ice packs in the freezer so they’re ready should you need to tote your juice around.

Q. Will I be hungry on a juice cleanse?

A. Yes, you probably will feel some hunger in the first day or two. This is completely normal and should pass as your body acclimates to consuming liquids only. Many times, the sensation we are feeling is not true hunger. The truth is, most of us can go days without solid food and be just fine. Usually, it is the feeling of an empty stomach or the ritual of eating at certain times that we mistake as hunger.

Q. Are there any side effects to cleansing?

A. Some people experience headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and moodiness. This is completely normal and usually a sign that your body is detoxifying. As toxins exit the tissues and enter the bloodstream to be eliminated, you may actually feel like you are coming down with something. Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest and know that you will soon be feeling much better.

Q. Can I cleanse if I am pregnant or nursing?

A. Drinking our juices while you are cleansing is great. However we don’t recommend juice only diets while you are pregnant or nursing. You actually need a lot of calories while you are pregnant or nursing.

Q: What if I have a health condition such as diabetes that requires prescription medication?

A: For diabetes, usually, regardless of the type, the answer to this is no but you should always check with your doctor first. As with any/all other health conditions that require prescription medication, if you are in doubt, please consult your doctor or a healthcare professional before beginning a cleanse program with us. They can best identify your particular needs and dietary limitations.

Q: Can I do your cleanse if I am lactose intolerant?

A: Absolutely! There are NO animal products in our juice. Q: Can I do this if I am on blood thinners? A: The answer to this question is almost always no because of the amount of greens in our juice, but as always, check with your doctor before you start any program.

Q: What should I do if my urine or stool is red?

A: No panic. It's probably because you just drank our beet juice.

Q: Where do I get my protein?

A: There are so many fantastic sources of protein other than protein that comes from animals. With Essentially, you will receive protein from our Green Juice and our Cashew Nut Milk. The Cashew Nut Milk is the more obvious source of protein, but also living plant foods are a great source of protein.
